Garred Clements


Garred Clements has nearly 30 years in the insurance and reinsurance arena, the last 17 of which have been in the audits, inspections and consultancy fields. Commencing work as a broker in both the aviation and marine markets, and thereafter in UK and US Professional Indemnity, D & O business, and then North American Casualty. He moved into the company and Lloyd’s markets initially concentrating on reinsurance recoveries, and later moving into the adjusting of APH, US casualty business and London Market Excess of Loss. Garred was also involved in many contentious reinsurance collections issues, with his role encompassing litigation and arbitration preparation and management.

As a consultant, Garred has specialised in audits, inspections, expert witness and recovery work, and he has also completed many commutations, pre-acquisition due diligence and novation reviews. He has also undertaken major catastrophe claims management for clients and overseen IT data migration projects and IT and systems reviews, including compliance and regulatory audits.

Garred has worked in UK, North America and Asia including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, China and Papua New Guinea. Other international jurisdictions he has worked in include Germany, Italy, France, Ireland and Bermuda, dealing with all areas of the insurance and reinsurance business.

Job Summary

Garred commenced work at the broker Bell Nicholson Henderson in 1989, moving to Willis in 1991. He entered the company market in 1994 at CNA Re, and in 1997, he joined Equitas. He joined a third-party consultancy firm in 2001 and before that, business was integrated into another firm in 2003. In 2006, he became an independent consultant, a role which he continued until joining Cranmore as an Associate Director in April 2011. In 2016, he became Managing Director of Cranmore.
